Classic Chess Problems by Pioneer Composers
This is a book designed to interest any chess enthusiast, whatever may be his knowledge of chess problem composition. Many of the masterpieces of previous eras may not be familiar to today's problem fans, since they are not reproduced in any volumes currently in print, with the single exception of Loyd's problems (Sam Loyd and His Chess Problems - Dover ). So the first half of this book contains a selection of compositions by a few of the most outstanding problemists of the past, showing the genius of Loyd, the profundity of Klett, the wizardry of Shinkman, the skill of Havel and of Wurzburg, the ingenuity of Kohtz and Kockelkorn, and the artistry of Heathcote.
